BWF World Tour Finals 2018 : the STOEVA against the world badminton elite

From 12 to 16 December 2018, the BWF World Tour Finals took place. The BWF World Tour Finals 2018, took place in the city of Guangzhou, China. This tournament is recognized as the most prestigious in the world of badminton. It brings together the 8 best singles players in the world, as well as the 8 best pairs in Women's Doubles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Among them were the STOEVA sisters, recent finalists of the 2018 French Open and winners of the last edition of the Orléans Masters.
As the only European representatives in the draw, the challenge was great for the current world number 7.

Being in Group B, they were notably opposed to :

  • The Japanese pair, number 3 in the world, M. MATSUMOTO and W. NAGAHARA, against whom they were defeated in the Final of the IFB 2018.
  • The world number 5 pair from Thailand, J. KITITHARAKUL and R. PRAJONGJAI
  • The Korean pair, number 6 in the world, So Hee LEE and Seung Chan SHIN, whom they had eliminated in the semi-finals of the IFB 2018.

However, despite a match played against the Koreans, first finalists of the tournament, the STOEVA sisters lost to each of the pairs in their group. (14-21 / 21-14 / 9-21). They were therefore unable to win their ticket for the semi-finals of the Chinese tournament.
Although these BWF World Tour Finals 2018, did not smile to the Bulgarian pair, we hope to see them at their highest level for the 2019 edition of the Orleans Masters ! Indeed, the countdown is on. The registration of players has started since December 12th !
