The fourth day of competition concluded with what may have been the longest match of the tournament... Perhaps even in the tournament's history?! The Japanese duo Hirokami/Kato (4th seeds) secured a spot in the quarterfinals after a nail-biting victory of 24-22, 20-22, 26-24 over the Taipei players Hsu/Lin in... 1 hour and 46 minutes of play!
Before that, seven Japanese singles players and one mixed doubles pair qualified for the quarterfinals: Asuka Takahashi, Tomoka Miyazaki, Hina Akechi, Manami Suizu, Takuma Obayashi, Koo Takahashi, Yushi Tanaka, and the Nishi/Sato pair. It's an impressive feat for the Japanese players, showcasing flawless performances.
Similarly, French players Alex Lanier and the women's doubles pair Margot Lambert/Anne Tran showed great composure in their round of 16 matches. However, other French players didn't fare as well, often facing heavy defeats.
Among the seeded players, there were no surprises in singles or mixed doubles, but some outsiders or favorites were ousted in the men's doubles (pairs Arjun/Kapila (5) and Low/Ng) and women's doubles (Kusuma/Pratiwi (1) and Chang/Yang (8)).
