The second day of competition at the 2024 Masters has come to a close.
Here are the key takeaways:
Seven French players or pairs have advanced to the round of 16. Alongside the four doubles teams that qualified yesterday, Léonice Huet and Alex Lanier will represent France in the singles events, while the mixed doubles pair Léa Palermo / Julien Maio will also compete.
On the favorites' side, there were quite a few surprises today.
In men's singles, the 4th, 6th, and 8th seeds were eliminated: Jun Hao Leong, Kevin Cordon, and Kantaphon Wangcharoen. In women's singles, top seed Natsuki Nidaira, 4th seed Lin Hsian Ti, and seeds 5 and 6, Julie Dawall Jakobsen and Pornpicha Choeikeewong, as well as Malvika Bansod and Qi Xuefei, were all knocked out! Additionally, in mixed doubles, the Malaysian pair Chan / Cheah also bowed out! There were plenty of surprises, but above all, a lot of emotions and spectacular matches!
Don't miss the round of 16 starting at noon.
