The Stoeva sisters, European champions !

Many athletes present at the Orleans Masters 2018 shone at the European Badminton Championships in Huelva, from 24 April to 29 April.

The French won two medals :

Silver with the French Emilie Lefel and Anne Tran. The French had stopped in the semi-finals of the Orleans Masters 2018, in a women's draw won by the Stoeva sisters. The Bulgarians became European champions with a victory in the final against the French. (21-12 21-10). Bronze with Brice Leverdez, winner in Orleans, in 2019. The Frenchman lost in the semi-final against the world number 1 and future European champion, Viktor Axelsen on the score of 21-8 21-7.

To be noted in this men's singles draw, the rematch between Mark Caljouw and Jan O Jorgensen. The Dutchman, winner in Orléans in 2017 and 2018, had won in the round of 16 against the Dane. But the latter took his revenge, at the same stage of the competition, at the European Championship with a victory. (21-19 21-18). Nevertheless Jorgensen made it to the semi-finals of the men's singles. He won a bronze medal. L. Corvée and R. Gemke, who shone in Orleans in 2018, were not able to reach the quarter finals.

In the women's singles draw, Orléans Masters 2018 finalist Mia Blichfeldt reached the semi-finals against future European champion Carolina Marin from Spain. (21-17, 21-16). Kirsty Glamour, winner in Orléans in 2017, was beaten in the quarter-finals by Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt from Denmark.

The pair Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen won the men's doubles draw with a victory in the final against their compatriots Conrad Petersen / Pieler Kolding.

Finally, the mixed doubles draw, was won by Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Adcock at the expense of Mathias Christiansen (winner in XD in Orleans in 2016) and Christinna Pedersen. (21-18, 17-21, 21-18).
