Wednesday, March 28th : Serial surprises…

The sixteenth finals of the Orleans Masters were held today at the Sports hall. The tournament has already given its share of surprises.

From the outset, the day looked complicated for the seeded players: Linda Zetchiri (TDS No. 4, WS) came close to the exit for the first match of the day against Fabienne Deprez (18-21 21-17 21-19). The hecatomb started a few matches later. Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich (TDS n°1, XD) were taken out by the Indonesian Andika Ramadiansyah and Mychelle Crhrystine Bandaso (15-21 21-15 21-19). At the end of the morning, Anastasia Chervyakova and Olva Morozova (TDS No. 2, WD) were also released, again by the same Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso and her partner Winny Oktavina Kandow (21-13 21-19). Igor Coelho (TDS No. 2, MS) followed the same path, beaten by Sam Parsons (21-12 21-19). The last big surprise came with the elimination of Jones Ralfy Jansen and Josche Zurwonne (TDS No. 2, MD) by Malaysians Chun Kang Shia and Wee Gieen Tan after a huge fight (22-24 21-18 21-18). The forfeit of Manu Attri and Reddy B.Sumeeth (TDS n°1, MD) could however open a beautiful door for them .

Fortunately, other favourites have assumed their status: the Danes Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Alexandra Boje, Mia Blichfeldt or Jan O.Jorgensen will be present tomorrow in the 1/8 finals.

There will also be many Frenchmen to follow on the courts this Friday: Lucas Claerbout, Lucas Corvée and Thomas Rouxel (MS), Romain Franck/Florent Riancho Mathieu Gangloff/Tom Rodrigues (MD), Delphine Delrue/Léa Palermo and Emilie Lefel Anne Tran (WD) or Ronan Labar/Audrey Fontaine (XD).
