This year again, Paris will host one of the 12 most prestigious tournaments in the world in the mythical Pierre de Coubertin hall. From 23 to 28 October 2018, the 32 best players and pairs in the world will compete for the coveted title. Among these players, many are not unknown to the Orleans public and have already distinguished themselves during previous editions of the Orleans Masters.
Today was the end of the round of sixteen, an opportunity for us to review their results in the capital.
Women's singles :
In Women's Singles, Paris did not succeed to the winners of the previous editions Beatriz CORRALES (Winner 2013 and 2014) and Kirsty GILMOUR (Winner 2017). They lost respectively in 2 sets to the number 8 seed Nozomi OKUHARA and the Japanese Sayaka TAKAHASHI. The 2016 finalist, Fitriani FITRIANI, did not make it past the first round either. She lost to the number 7 seed He BINGJAO. The only exception in the women's category, Mia BLICHFELDT (Winner in 2018) easily won in 2 sets (21-17 / 21-5) against the Bulgarian Linda ZETCHIRI.
Women's doubles :
In Women's Doubles, the French Delphine DELRUE and Lea PALERMO (Finalists of the last 3 editions) will not have succeeded in dismissing the players of Tapeï Ya Ching HSU and Ti Jung WU. They lost in 2 sets : 20-22 / 14-21. This first round was more successful for their opponents in the 2018 final. The STOEVA sisters won easily against the Korean pair Hye Jeong KIM and Hee Yong KONG : 21-13 / 21-18.
Men's doubles :
In Men's Doubles, the winners of the 2018 edition, Mark LAMSFUSS and Marvin Emil SEIDEL will have battled. In the end, they did not manage to create a surprise against the Indonesian number 1 seeds, Marcus Fernaldi GIDEON and Kevin Sanjaya SUKAMULJO. They lost in 3 sets: 21-18 / 12-21 / 14-21. Note that Marvin Emil SEIDEL, associated with his compatriot Linda EFLER, qualified for the round of 16 of the mixed doubles by benefiting at the beginning of the 3rd set from the WO of the Chinese pair Jiting HE and Yue DU.
Mixed doubles :
Finally, the Mixed Doubles draw was marked by the surprise elimination of the Danish pair. The number 6 seed, M. CHRISTIANSEN (Winner in 2015 and 2016) and C. PEDERSEN were eliminated by their compatriots J.FISCHER NIELSEN and A. BOJE. (18-21 / 21-14 / 21-23). The winners of the 2017 edition, M. LAMSFUSS and I. HETTRICH, also failed to get past the first round. They lost to the Malaysian pair, seeded number 8, S.H. GOH and S.J. LAI. (21-11 / 12-21 / 6-21). The winner of the 2013 edition, M.ELLIS, associated with his compatriot L. SMITH, had more success against the Indonesian pair R. KARANDASUWARDI and D. SASANTO. (21-18 / 21 -18).
Also to be noted, the great performance of the finalist of the 2016 edition, Robin TABELING (cf.photo) who associated with his compatriot C. SEINEN, eliminated in 3 sets the Malaysian P.S. CHAN and L.Y. GOH, seeded number 7. (19-21 / 21-18 / 21-18).
