From July 11 to 16, 2023, the Yonex US Open 2023 took place at Council Bluffs in western Iowa, USA.

Let’s take a look back today at this super300 tournament where we find some players from the Orléans Masters Badminton!

Quarter-finals :


Men’s singles :

The Thai winner of the previous Open (Thailand and India) but also accustomed to the Orléans Masters Badminton qualifies for the semi-finals against the Japanese Takuma Obayashi in 2 winners: 21-17/21-14.

The Taiwanese winner of the Masters of Thailand qualifies in the semi-final and will meet Kunlavut Vitidsarn following his victory in 2 sets winners against the Japanese Koo Takahasi: 21-11/21-13.

The current world n°12 Lakshya Sen won his duel against his colleague S.Sankar Muthusaly Subramanian in 2 sets to 0: 21-10/21-17.

Taiwan's Su Li Yang lost to China's Li Shi Feng 0 sets to 2: 14-21/16-21.

Women’s singles :

Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon won her duel 2 sets to 1 against Vietnam's Thuy Linh Nguyen: 14-21/21-16/21-7.

India's Pusarla V.Sindhu, runner-up at the 2023 Spanish Masters, lost 0 sets to 2 to China's Gao Fang Jie: 22-20/21-13.

The land of free men is out in force at this US Open, with Thailand's Supanida Katethong continuing her march towards the finals by winning her duel with Denmark's Julie Dawall Jakobsen in 2 sets: 21-7/21-11.

Line Christophersen, silver medalist in women's singles at the Orléans Masters Badminton 2021, defeated Canadian Eliana Zhang in 2 sets to 1: 17-21/21-12/21-15.

Men’s Doubles :

A strong Taiwanese presence in this double men's draw, will this concentration of pairs pay off?

The Taiwanese pair of Su Ching Heng and YE Hong Wei (who finished second on the podium in mixed doubles at the Orléans Masters Badminton presented by Victor 2023 alongside Lee Chia Hsin) lost to their colleagues Lin Yu Chieh Su Li Wei 0 sets to 2: 19-21/16-21.

Another duel between sister pairs, with Taiwanese pair Fang-Chih Lee and Fang-Jen Lee advancing to the semi-finals in 2 sets against Chang Ko-Chi and Po Li-Wei: 21-11/21-18.

The Malaysian pair Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin, winners of the German Open 2022, beat Taiwanese Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Yang Ming-Tse 2 sets to 0: 21-15/21-19.

Unfortunately for our French players, the same scenario played out at this 29th edition of the Orléans Masters Badminton, with the French pair Corvee/Labar failing to progress beyond the quarter-finals. The Chinese Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi won in 2 sets against our French team: 21-17/23-21.

Women’s Doubles:

In this US Open women's doubles draw, we find the Danish pair who finished ¾ th of the podium at the Orléans Masters Badminton presented by Victor 2023. Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygensen won in 2 sets against locals Annie Xu and Kerry Xu: 21-14/21-18.

Taiwan's Hsu Ya Ching and Lin Wan Ching won the third set after more than an hour's play and 122 points. They won 2 sets to 1 against their colleagues Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun: 20-22/21-17/22-20.

The Chinese pair Li Yi Jing / Luo Xu Min won in 2 sets against the Chinese Keng Shu Liang and Zhang Chi: 21-13/21-7.

The runners-up at OMB2023 Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning showed their superiority in 2 winning sets against the pair Lee Chia Hsin and Teng Chun Hsun: 21-18/21-13.

Mixed Doubles :

The Taiwanese mixed doubles finalists at the Orléans Masters Badminton presented by Victor 2023 earn their place in the semi-finals against the Taiwanese pair Chen Zhi Ray and Tang Ching Tun. Victory 2 sets to 0 for Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin: 21-17/21-17.

Taiwan's Yang Po-Hsuan and Hu Ling Lang join their counterparts in the semi-finals following their 2-1 win over Canadians Ty Alexander Lindeman and Josephine Wu: 17-21/21-7/21-11.

Denmark's Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magalung, fresh from a silver medal at the Canadian Open, reached the semi-finals against Americans Vinson Chiu and Jennie Gai. Victory 2 sets to 1: 21-10/20-22/21-14.

After 57 minutes of intense play, locals Presley Smith and Allison Lee beat Austalians Kenneth Zhe Hooi Choo and Gronya Somerville 2 sets to 1: 9-21/22-20/21-15.

Semi-finals:


Men’s singles :

Kunlavut Vitidsarn showed his superiority from the top of his 173cm height, and from the podium of the best players in the world today, it was a place in the final that the Thai won in 2 sets against Li Chun-Yi from Taiwan: 21-14/21-17.

A very close match between India's Lakshya Sen and China's Li Shi Feng, who won in the last set, 2 sets to 1 for the Chinese player, who is now through to the final: 21-17/22-24/21-17.

Women’s singles :

The dream ended for Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon, who lost 1 set to 2 to China's Gao Fang Jie: 21-14/17-21/9-21.

Thailand is still going strong and Supanida Katethong shows her superiority against Denmark's Christophersen: 21-12/21-19.

Men’s Doubles :

The Taiwanese pair Lin Tu Chien and Su Li Wei lost 0 sets to 2 to their sister pair Fang-Chih Lee and Fang-Jen Lee: 17-21/12-21.

The Malaysian pair won in 2 sets to book their ticket to the finals. Victory 21-14/21-17 over the Chinese Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi.

Women’s Doubles :

The Danish pair Fruergaard / Thygesen reached the final, winning 2 sets to 0 against Taiwan's Hsu Ta Ching and Lin Wan Ching: 21-19/21-11.

A rematch of the Orléans Masters Badminton 2023 podium presented by Victor for this American final. The Chinese pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning won 2 sets to 1 against the Chinese Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min: 21-16/19-21/21-19.

Mixed Doubles :

Heading for the final for the OMB2023 finalist pair, Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin won in 2 sets against the Taiwanese pair Yang Po-Hsuan / Hu Ling Lang: 21-16/21-18.

Denmark's Thyrri and Megalund meet the Taiwanese in the final! The Danish pair won 21-13/21-17 against the Americans Smith and Lee.

Finales :


Men’s singles :

It could have been a third 2023 gold medal for Thailand's Vitidsarn, who had to settle for second place on the podium. China's Li Shi Feng won the US Open in 2 sets: 21-15/21-18.

Women’s singles :

Bangkok-born Supanida Katethong defeated China's Gao Fang Jie in 2 sets to take the title (21-15/21-16)!

Men’s Doubles :

The natives of the beautiful island couldn't resist the superiority of the Malaysian pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin, who took first place on the podium in 2 winning sets: 21-9/21-10.

Women’s Doubles :

The Chinese pair Liu Sheng Shu / Tan Ning once again showed their superiority in winning 2 sets against the Danes Fruergaard and Thygesen, Chinese victory 21-19/21-11.

Mixed Doubles :

After 45 minutes, the verdict was in: the Taiwanese pair won the mixed doubles draw at the US Open 2023! A 2-1 victory for Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin: 13-21/21-16/21-18.

The Danes once again won a silver medal, to add to the one they won at the Canadian Open further up the continent.
