Mathias Christiansen triples the bet with Alexandra Boje

Already winner of the mixed doubles in 2015 and 2016 (with Léna Grebak), Mathias Christiansen did it again in the final of the Orléans Masters 2021 with his partner Alexandra Boje. In a fratricidal final, Boje/Christiansen enforced their status as number 7 seeds. Already finalists at the Swiss Open earlier this month, the Danes score big points in the Olympic race. The last final of the 2021 edition was not the most spectacular match of the week, as is often the case on such occasions, especially between players who know each other very well.

Amalie Magelund and Niclas Nohr (also winner in 2018 with Sara Thygesen) could never find the tactics to make their compatriots doubt. At the net, at the back of the court, everything went too fast for them and they found themselves far behind in the score. 21-13 for Boje/Christiansen in the first set.
The second set, however, was more tightly contested. It was a mental game, it was close, but the money time was clearly in favour of the favourites. They only needed two match points to win. 21-13, 21-17 final score.
At the Orléans Masters, mixed matches remain a European speciality. And even more so in Denmark with this fourth title in the last six editions going to Copenhagen.
