Round of 8 European Championship 2021 – Ukraine

Since Tuesday 27 April 2021, the European Championship has been held in Ukraine. The French clan had a clean slate until yesterday. Today's round of 16 was the best for several French players.

 

First of all, in the men's singles, Toma Jr POPOV, winner of the Orleans Masters 2021, lost to the Finnish Kalle KOLJONEN. (21-12 / 21-17) However the competition continues for Brice LEVERDEZ and Thomas ROUXEL. The first one made the suspense last against the Scottish Eetu HEINO. (21-13 / 20-22 / 21-16) He will meet the Danish Anders ANTONSEN for a place in the semi-finals. The second won his match without much difficulty against the Ukrainian Danylo BOSIUK. (21-12 / 21-11) He will also face tomorrow a Danish Viktor AXELSEN, European champion in title.

 

In men's doubles F. DELRUE and W. VILLEGER lost in a tight match against the English M.ELLIS and C. LANGRIDGE. (21-18 / 19-21 / 21-16) Toma Jr and Christo POPOV won against the Dutch Ruben JILLE and Ties VAN DER LECQ. (12-21 / 21-12 / 21-11) The brothers will face the Danish Kim ASTRUP and Anders Skaarup RASMUSSEN in the quarter final.

 

In the women's singles, the only French player, Marie BATOMENE lost to the English Julie Dawall JAKOBSEN. (21-17 / 21-11)

 

In women's doubles, Émilie LEFEL and Anne TRAN lost to the Swiss Aline MÜLLER and Jenjira STADELMANN. (21-16 / 7-21 / 21-19) 

 

Finally in mixed doubles, the duo R. LABAR and A. TRAN got the better of the German pair Jones Ralfy JANSEN and Kilasu OSTERMEYER. (13-21 / 21-13 / 21-19) They will face the Danish pair winners of the Orléans Masters 2021 Mathias CHRISTIANSEN and Alexandra BOJE. Later in the day we saw a 100% French match, Delphine DELRUE and Thom GICQUEL (Winner in 2019 of the Orléans Masters) against Eloi ADAM and Margot LAMBERT. Thom GICQUEL and Delphine DELRUE, led the match against their teammates ( 21-17 / 21 / 11) and will face the Russian pair Rodion ALIMOV and Alina DAVLETOVA to win their place in the semi-finals.
