Let’s go back today to this Super 300 tournament, where we find some players who have been through the Orléans Masters Badminton!
Men's singles
Quarter-finals
For the first quarter-final, we find two Indian players who have played in Orléans. Lakshya SEN (who came to play for the 2019 edition) beats Meiraba Luwang MAISNAM (who came for the 2022 edition) 21-8, 21-19.
Another Indian, also coming for the OMB 2022, offers himself a victory over his opponent. In just over half an hour, Priyanshu RAJAWAT beats the Vietnamese NGUYEN Hai Dang 21-1, 21-8.
In a quarter-final match that also lasted half an hour, Japan's Shogo OGAWA eliminated India's Ayush SHETTY 21-7, 21-14.
Singaporean player Jia Heng Jason TEH, present at the 2022 edition of the OMB, defeated Indian Rithvik Sanjeevi SATISH KUMAR, with a victory in the second set which postpones the possibility of a third set and gives him his place in the semi-final: 21-10, 22-20.
Semi-finals
The first semi-final pits the two players who came for the 2022 edition against each other: Jia Heng Jason TEH and Priyanshu RAJAWAT. The victory goes to the Singaporean after 48 minutes of play: 21-13, 21-19.
The Indian Lakshya SEN faced the Japanese Shogo OGAWA for 42 minutes, from which he emerged victorious after a rather unbalanced first set and a slightly more contested second: 21-8, 21-14.
Final
The final was dispatched by the Indian Lakshya SEN, who had played at the 2019 edition of the OMB, who gave Jia Heng Jason TEH no respite for half an hour: 21-6, 21-7. He won the title in front of his home crowd.
Women's singles
Quarter-finals
For the first quarter-final, we find the Indian PUSARLA V. Sindhu opposed to the Chinese DAI Wang. After 48 minutes of play, the Indian wins 21-15, 21-17.
In a duel lasting more than an hour, we find the same nations facing each other: the Indian Shriyanshi VALISHETTY plays against the Chinese WU Luo Yu. But after 3 disputed sets the Chinese wins 20-22, 21-14, 21-19.
In less than half an hour, Unnati HOODA, the third Indian to qualify for the quarter-finals, defeated the American Ishika JAISWAL in 2 sets: 21-16, 21-9.
Thailand's LALINRAT CHAIWAN, who came to Orléans for the 2021 edition, faced another Indian player, Tasnim MIR. After half an hour of play, the Thai won 21-13,21-15.
Semi-finals
The two qualified Indians meet for the first semi-final. PUSARLA K. Sindhu emerges victorious from the duel against her compatriot Unnati HOODA: 21-12, 21-9.
The second semi-final pits the Chinese Wu Luo Yu against the Thai LALINRAT CHAIWAN. The Chinese player defeats the player who played for the OMB in 2019: 21-19, 21-12.
Final
In the final duel, it was the Indian PUSARLA V. Sindhu, supported by her public, who won over the Chinese in 2 sets: 21-14, 21-16. She offered a second national victory at home.
Men's doubles
Quarter-finals
The first quarter-finals promise some very competitive matches before the semi-finals. The Indian pair BHATNAGAR/UDAYAKUMAR, who played in Orléans in 2022, fiercely defend their place for the rest of the tournament. The Malaysians KANG/THAI try to recover the second set to call the outcome of the match into question without succeeding. The Indians finally win with a score that is nevertheless quite unprecedented: 21-12, 30-29.
The Chinese SUN/ZHU defeated the Indians AMSAKARUNAN/RETHINASABAPATHI in 2 equally tight sets: 24-22, 21-19.
The second Chinese pair present for these quarter-finals, HUANG/LIU, won by a mirror score that was also relatively close against the Thais KEDREN/PUAVARANUKROH: 21-18, 21-18.
The scores of the next match are quite scattered: the encounter still ends in 3 sets. The Malaysians LIM/WONG lose to the Indians KRISHNAMURTHY ROY/PRATHEEK. K: 21-12, 11-21, 16-21.
Semi-finals
The semi-finals see two nationalities face off: China and India. We witness a duel between the Indians and then between the Chinese who will then compete for first place in the tournament.
3 of the players present on the field of this semi-final had also come to represent the colors of India in Orléans in 2022. Pruthvi KRISHNAMURTHY ROY and Sai PRATHEEK. K won in almost an hour against their compatriots Ishaan BHATNAGAR and Sankar Prasad UDAYAKUMAR: 21-17, 17-21, 21-16.
Then, the duel between the Chinese pairs HUANG Di, who joined OMB in 2019, and his teammate LIU Yang took place, defeating SUN Wen Jun and ZHU Yi Jun after winning the first tight set: 21-19, 21-14.
Final
Despite the support of the public, the Indians KRISHNAMURTHY ROY/PRATHEEK. K struggle to gain the upper hand in the match against the Chinese HUANG/LIU: they concede the first set, recover the second, but lose the third after 1h11 of play (14-21, 21-19, 17-21).
Women's doubles
Quarter-finals
The first quarter-final pits two Indian pairs against each other who want to win in front of their home crowd, but despite this, only one of them advances to the semi-final. After an hour of play during which 3 sets were played, the CRASTO/PONNAPPA pair wins against the KONJENGBAM/MISHRA pair: 21-12, 17-21, 21-16.
The Thai sisters AIMSAARD won in just over half an hour against the Chinese KENG/WANG: 21-12, 21-16.
The second Chinese pair involved in these quarter-finals, BAO/LI, largely dominated the PANDA sisters, who had participated in the OMB 2022, in exactly half an hour: 21-9, 21-4.
The fourth Indian pair, JOLLY/GAYATRI GOPICHAND PULLELA, reached the semi-final by eliminating the Malaysians GO/TEOH, also present in 2022 in Orléans: 21-8, 21-15.
Semi-finals
The women's doubles semi-finals are among the longest matches of the tournament, each lasting over an hour.
Indians Treesa JOLLY and GAYATRI GOPICHAND PULLELA defeated the AIMSAARD sisters (Nuntakarn having moved to OMB in 2021) from Thailand in three sets: 18-21, 21-18, 21-10.
The Chinese BAO Li Jing and LI Qian eliminate the second Indian pair from these semi-finals. Tanisha CRASTO and Ashwini PONNAPPA, both already at the OMB in 2022 for the first and 2021 for the second, lose in 3 sets: 14-21, 21-16, 21-13.
Final
Indians Treesa JOLLY and GAYATRI GOPICHAND PULLELA offer a hat-trick of gold to India by beating Chinese BAO Li Jing and LI Qian in 2 sets and 40 minutes of play: 21-18, 21-11.
Mixed doubles
Quarter-finals
The Thais PUAVARANUKROH/PAEWSAMPRAN won in less than half an hour and a quick second set against the Indians KARUNAKARAK/VARIYATH (the first having participated in singles at the OMB 2022): 21-16, 21-4.
The second Indian pair, DHRUV KAPILA/CRASTO, qualified for the quarter-finals, faced the Malaysians LOO/HO and won in 2 sets: 21-16, 21-13.
The next two matches were played in over an hour and very tight sets. The Chinese ZHOU/YANG eliminated the only European pair still in the competition: the English EASTON/TOLMAN (who came to play mixed doubles in Orléans two years ago), in 3 sets: 21-19, 20-22, 21-19.
The second Chinese pair LIAO/HUANG eliminated the Malaysian pair WONG/LIM (who played in Orléans in 2021) also in 3 sets: 21-14, 22-24, 21-16.
Semi-finals
The first semi-final pitted the Indians DHRUV KAPILA and Tanisha CRASTO against the Chinese ZHOU Zhi Hong and YANG Jia Yi for 42 minutes. The former won in 2 sets: 21-16, 21-15.
The second Chinese pair LIAO Pin Yi and HUANG Ke Xin were eliminated in ten minutes less by the Thais Dechapol PUAVARANUKROH and Supissara PAEWSAMPRAN also in 2 sets: 21-11, 21-13.
Final
Thais Dechapol PUAVARANUKROH and Supissara PAEWSAMPRAN, winners of the Kumamoto Masters last month, won another victory and a new title in mixed by beating Indians DHRUV KAPILA and Tanisha CRASTO in 3 sets and just under an hour of play: 18-21, 21-14, 21-8.
