Last week, from 7th to 11th December, occured the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. It was the last tournament of the BWF World Tour 2022 and gathered the most big international badminton players of the year.
We found there some players well known of the Orléans Masters Badminton international tournament. However, some of them could not access the semi-finals doors.
Indeed :
The French mixed duo winner of the Orléans Masters 2019 edition, Thom GICQUEL et Delphine DELRUE, has been stopped in their run-up due to the Indonesian pair RIVALDY/MENTARI. It was by 2 sets to 1 (21-14/17-21/24-22) that they saw them eliminated in front of quarter final, despite an intense third set.
In the women's single category, Busanan ONGBAMRUNGPHAN, winner of our Orléans Masters 2021's edition, also left her place for the quarter final. By 2 sets to 1 intense (21-8/20-22/13-21), the young Thai passed on her place to the Chinese HE Bing Jiao.
The Thai pair KITITHARAKUL/PRAJONGJAI, finalist duo of our Women's double 2021 edition, ended their momentum for the quarter final facing Corean pair KIM Hye Jong/JEONG Na Eun (14-21/12-21)
Then, on the podium, winners for each category are :
◾Men's single : the Danish player Viktor AXELSEN leads with flying colors this victory against the Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka GINTING with 2 sets (21-13/21-14).
◾Women's single : the Japanese Akane YAMAGUCHI wins this tournament dans her category not without difficulty with 2 sets (21-18/22-20) facing the Chinese TAI Tzu Ying.
◾Men's double : it's the Chinese pair LIU Yu Chen/OU Xuan Yi comes out of the tournament winner against the Indonesian duo SETIAWAN/AHSAN by 2 sets to 1 (21-17/19-21/21-12).
◾Women's double : the Chinese CHEN/JIA get the trophy in their category by 2 sets (21-13/21-14) before Thai sisters AIMSAARD.
◾Mixed double : the Chinese duo ZHENG/HUANG arrives at the front of their category facing Thai duo TAERATTANACHAI/PUAVARANUKROH (21-19/18-21/21-13).
This podium brings the badminton matchs to a close for the year with the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2022. Let's meet next year, starting from 10th January of 2023, to rediscover the best of international badminton. Regarding Orléans Masters Badminton, it comes back on April 2023 !
