HSBC BWF WORLD TOUR FINALS

The HSBC BWF WORLD TOUR FINALS took place this year from 1 to 5 December 2021. This tournament gathers the 8 best players or teams of the year. The first part of the tournament consists in opposing the athletes in 2 pools of 4 ; in order to finish with a final phase.

Today, we come back on the performances of the different players seen at the Orléans Masters 2021, during this BWF world tour finals !

Concerning the men's singles draw, our Frenchman Toma Junior POPOV could not do anything, he finished last of his group with 3 defeats. On the other hand, Kunlavut VITIDSARN finished 2nd in his group with 2 wins and a loss against Zii Jia LEE (21-15 / 21-16). An opponent he will meet again in the semi-final, with a vengeance, he qualifies for the final by winning 2 sets to 0. His adventure ended in the final against the elusive Danish world number 1, Viktor Axelsen.

In the women's singles, the Thai Pornpawee CHOCHUWONG had a very good run with 3 wins, she finished first in her group but lost in the semi-final against the Korean, world number 6, Se Young AN. The latter will win the tournament.

The Danish Line CHRISTOPERSEN did not shine, she finished 3rd of her group with a victory over the German Yvonne LI (21-11 / 21-14).

In men's doubles, the POPOV brothers did not win a single match or set. They finished last in their group.

In women's doubles, the STOEVA sisters qualified for the semi-final by finishing second in their pool, however they will forfeit against the future winners of the tournament, So Yeong KIM and Hee Yong KONG.

Ashwini PONNAPPA and N Sikki REDDY, on the other hand, finished third in pool B with a victory against the last of the group, Chloe BIRCH and Lauren SMITH (21-19 / 9-21 / 21-14).

Finally, in mixed doubles, the pair Mathias CHRISTIANSEN and Alexandra BOJE could have hoped for better, but they lost in a very close match against the second of the group CHAN and GOH (17-21 / 21-19 / 16-21).
